Commission - Pyro-The-Maniac by TastesLikeAnya Commission - Pyro-The-Maniac by TastesLikeAnya
A unique commission in that ~Pyro-The-Maniac requested I colour their linework.

Was a blast to do, to colour with the new things I've been learning, and not have to draw something before I could start experimenting.

Lol I cannot believe they expect us to do 50 hours freelance as well as a film.

Beautiful detail in the metals and stones, as well as the plume, especially beautiful pose and beautiful character, Great Work!

50 hours freelance + film. I KNOW RIGHT. I am considering just not doing my 50 hours because film deadline is so tight.

I definitely considered that, and could totally understand if someone didn't do it.

I like the highlights on the metal, but they work better in some places than others. Like, they don't read quite right on her chest piece, but on the ankles they look awesome!
also her left (our right) breast looks squashed.
and where is the shadow on her rear leg coming from? the shadow of her arm is already on her side, and the shadow of her front leg is on the ground.

Sorry, I dont mean to be nitpicky, I love your art! I just feel you've done better than this one.. not that its bad, either. the rest of it looks good :)

It's meant to be coming sharpy from the side and a tad to the front. The ground shadow was just hastily painted on without too much thought. I don't do ground shadows much, so I was kind of in awe of it without noticing the mistakes.

Wow lovely! The gold jewellery really adds so much dimension to this character. And with 50 hours of freelance and working on film, i can imagine you don't get to sleep, eat or breathe too much eh? lol

This is very well coloured!

I suspect they want you to do the 50 hours in addition to, and around, your film because they want you to be prepared for what's coming to you if you choose a career in this sort of thing. It's very realistic to be cramming a big sexy personal project in the spare time around a bunch of other paying work, because you'll need the temporary small stuff to pay bills, but you'll need that big project kind of like a fishing lure to catch bigger jobs later. Unfortunately needing both doesn't mean you get more time to work on it, so you just... cram it all in.
Just my personal reflection. I'm not "educated" when it comes to this sort of thing, I just have some personal experience, and that's what I've found.

I yeah, I definitely understand why. It's actually a good idea. I'm just ranting because I don't have time for it and am whiny, doing my third year film alone and such.

I don't blame you! School is so terrifying when it comes to workloads. To get your money's worth, you have to cram so much into so little time... it makes the head spin.

Fifty HOURS? Many, all they made us do was a probono project every semester. And we weren't even animators.
