Phew. That lighting is hard. I think I will reserve it for more important shots.
Anyway, the first scene I've done of Fire Tiger vs Acid Panther. If anyone's curious.

I won't upload any more scenes, as I'd like the film to be at least a bit of a surprise.

Oh wait, I just realized there are a couple of frames cut off the end. Oh well, not missing much.

Maybe I will upload it as soon as I finish. That was my original plan. But my university wants to send a few films to the Cannes Film Festival, and mine might be one of them, so I can't really turn that good-career opportunity down. And if they do send me, I won't be able to upload the film as those are the rules of the festival. But, if no Cannes, straight to the net.

Yow. Having dabbled briefly in frame-by-frame drawn animations, I can say that... is an intense lot of work you have there. How long's the finished film gonna be? Kudos to you for going all out and animating with that style, looks great!

2-ish minutes, though I've got room to make it longer if some shots need extending or such.
Thanks, too.

If it's anything like my animations, the actual tends to be longer than you think it'd be when boarding. Might just be me. All the best with it, I do look forward to the finished film!

I've combated that by having the music pre-recorded, so the timing in a lot of places in fixed. Though I imagine the places with no music will be extended to create more contrast with the faster paced music shots.
Thanks, too!

One day I need to (learn how to do sound design and then) make an animation with proper music and sound. How exactly're you getting the recording done though, if you d'mind my asking?

My art school is conveniently located next the music school, so we usually get our music from there. So I'm not really sure. But I will be making the sound effects in our school's small but satisfactory recording studio.

Mrr. So you essentially get to hire out music majors to help conceptualize the track?

Yep, it's a pretty good setup. They're assignments involve scoring something for a film or game, so it works out for them, too.

are you going to add sound effects to it later? or will it just be to music?

Music is in the works, sound effects will probably be added at the last minute over two sleepless, energy-drink-infused, blurs of days.

Ugh. My thumb is sore.
There was this triangle button, and every time I pressed it, awesome happened!
And now my thumb is sore.

XP Okay, seriously though, awesome work! Looking forward to seeing the final cut, but it's great to have a little sneak-peak. I agree, though, it'll be better if the whole thing is a surprise! *waves Acid Panther penant*

hey anya, FT's stripes are a bit inconsistent, most noticable being the 2nd stripe on his neck which changes length quite a bit (even to the point where it is in two parts instead of one long stripe)

Just letting you know, I've tried to watch the other ones and don't see really any differences, just that one is a bit noticeable if you watch it as many times as I did x) I think you did an AMAZING job though, it looks really great

I just looked, and the stripe that breaks in half is because his shoulder is obscuring it.
Lol, sorry. I hope that doesn't sound rude. It's really hard to get across just how hard stripes are to do, and how much them being a little inconsistent rather than massively inconsistent is a victory.

Oh I know, I have experienced it myself with animation. Ahh that makes sense though, I was just noticing and thought you might want to know, seeing as you have spent so long on it ^^; I know it's pretty much impossible to get markings consistent without spending forever on them. I found that out even when the only markings I had on a character were some stripes on the cheeks lol! so I applaud you for getting it to look so good already!
